Taking part in the tender for 4×4 combat armored vehicles for Slovak Armed Forces, ARQUUS provided SHERPA Light APC to the Slovak Military Technical and Testing Institute (VTSÚ) in Záhorie to prove its technical specifications and driving characteristics on trial.
After verifying weight and dimensions, the vehicle was loaded with maximum payload and the driving characteristics – such as speed, acceleration and breaking performance – were examined. Attention was also paid to noise level. Next, ordinary testing of gradeability, side slope, trench and vertical obstacle pass and fording was done, according to international standards. Finally, manoeuvrability in all kind of terrain, including sand, was examined.
SHERPA presented ergonomics, large internal volume, excellent driveability and safety in the most challenging situations. It impressed with balanced characteristics and simple, however functional modularity.
MoD intends to procure 404 vehicles and seeks to gain a comprehensive picture of verified technical data of all vehicles taking part in the tender to analyse both technical and economical data of individual offers.
